This was after the intervention of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who herself is currently admitted to a hospital in Delhi for kidney transplant.
In fact, 36-year-old Eman Ahmed was issued medical visa by the Indian Embassy in Egypt on Tuesday after a Mumbai-based doctor requested Swaraj to help the woman travel to India for treatment.
“Thanks for bringing this to my notice. We will definitely help her,’’ Swaraj tweeted in response to the doctor’s request.
The embassy granted visa to Eman, a resident of Alexandria, to travel to India for treatment within hours.
