The Supreme Court yesterday ruled that Ikpeazu is the authentic winner of the 2015 governorship electionin the state, setting aside an appeal court verdict, which nullified the Governor's election.

On December 31, 2015, a Court of Appeal sitting inAbia had ordered Ikpeazu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and ordered the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to swear in Alex otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the state governor.
