Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has not entirely ruled himself out of tonight's blockbuster Clasico clash against Barcelona (22:00 CET). Although the royal club announced on Sunday morning that the Belgian shot-stopper had been sidelined with severe flu, the player is doing everything in his power to recover in time for the showdown.
"We will wait to see how things develop over the coming hours and whether his condition improves. If it does, he will catch a flight to Barcelona. We hope he can make a full recovery and travel," sources at the club's Valdebebas training ground revealed, as quoted by Marca.
Although the initial official medical update pointed to his absence, the door remains open for his trip should his condition rapidly improve. The Belgian is refusing to give up and intends to wait until the final minute to avoid missing the crucial encounter.
If Courtois is ultimately unable to feature at Camp Nou, Andriy Lunin will step in between the posts for Real Madrid.
