NPFL side to remain at MKO Abiola Stadium

Ikorodu United were given a match home ban by the League Management Company (LMC) organisers of the NPFL as a result of crowd troubles.

Crowd troubles marred Ikorodu United’s matchday 30 fixture against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan at the Onikan Stadium.

With the score still at 1-1, the game was called off in the 89th minute after the home fans started throwing objects on the pitch.

The fans were protesting Ajani Ibrahim’s equalising goal for Shooting Stars.

Ikorodu United have however chosen to remain at the MKO Abiola Stadium after the ban and their request has been granted by the LMC.

In a letter sent to the LMC, General Manager of the club, Dele Gbajumo stated that the club will not be able to guarantee full security at their home of Onikan Stadium.

Approving the request, the LMC have also the club to partner with the Ogun State Football Association on how to manage the crowd at their adopted home, MKO Stadium.

On the pitch, it’s not looking good for the Oga Boys who are in 19th position on the NPFL table. (relegation zone)

From 30 games so far this season, the Theodorus Jacob de Jong lead side has lost 16 games, drawn 10 and won only four.
