Iheanacho's instant impact not enough against Arsenal as Jesus punishes Leicester

Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho was an impact sub in Leicester City's Premier League clash against Arsenal, but the Gunners had too much for the Foxes, thanks to a sterling performance from Gabriel Jesus. 

Jesus, a £45m arrival from Manchester City, scored his first league goals for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta's men beat Leicester 4-2 in their Premier League clash at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. 

Having kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last week, Arsenal went into the clash against Leicester, hoping to build on their opening day win. 

However, it was Leicester, who dropped a two-goal lead in their opening game against Brentford last week, that started brightly.

The Foxes almost took the lead in the opening minutes through Jamie Vardy's effort, but Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was up to the task. 

It was the wake-up call Arteta's men needed as they took the lead in the 23rd minute through Gabriel Jesus' finish. The Brazil striker put Arsenal ahead with a brilliant curling effort from the edge of the box. 

One became two in the 35th minute as Jesus headed home from the near post to score his and Arsenal's second of the game. Minutes later, Leicester were handed a lifeline after the referee pointed to the spot for a foul on Vardy, but the decision was overruled following a VAR review.

The Gunners went into the break with a two-goal lead, but Leicester came out charging following the restart, and they got their reward through an own goal from William Saliba. 

However, just as the Foxes thought they were back in the game, a howler from Danny Ward allowed Granit Xhaka to tap home and restore Arsenal's two-goal lead. 

The Foxes' manager reacted by bringing on Iheanacho, and the Nigerian made an instant impact, setting up James Maddison with a brilliant reverse pass for Leicester's second in the 74th minute. 

However, it was not to be for the away side as Gabriel Martinelli killed off their hopes with a left-footed strike a minute later to seal a 4-2 win for Arsenal.
