Legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has lauded Mexico's performance at the FIFA World Cup. The former AC Milan, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain star commented on the Aztecs' dominant 2-0 victory over Ecuador in the Round of 16.

“They played with immense intensity, both offensively and defensively. They showed who the dominant team was right from the start, scoring two goals. In the second half, they had to slow the pace a bit and secured the win. Mexico delivered their best performance of the tournament so far,” Ibrahimović told Fox Sports.

This triumph marks the first time since 1986 that Mexico has advanced past the first knockout round of a World Cup. On that occasion, they defeated Bulgaria 2-0. In the Round of 16, the Mexicans will face the winner of the match between England and DR Congo.
