Sports minister, Solomon Dalong pays condolence visit to NFF following death of their protocol officer
Sports Minister Solomon Dalong has also paid a condolence visit to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Secretariat following the death of their head of protocols Ibrahim Abubakar.
According to the NFF, Abubakar was gunned down by armed robbers at the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, January 6 at his residence in Abuja.
"NFF's Head of Protocol Ibrahim Abubakar was shot dead by armed robbers in his house in Abuja in the early hours of today," the NFF tweeted on Wednesday morning.
"Abubakar's remains is being taken to Kaduna for burial."
The Minister of Youth Development and Sports, Dalong who was in company of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Christian Ohaa and other top officers of his entourage, was received by the Deputy General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme at the Glass house.
"It is really a sad loss, not just for the NFF, but for the entire Sports Family," Dalong said.
"This sad occurrence has again brought to the fore the need for adequate security in the country; a situation where we all live in fear of the unknown is worrisome" Dalung said after signing the condolence register in honour of the late Abubakar.
The late Abubakar was a graduate of political science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and is survived by his wife and three children.
He has been buried today in Kaduna according to Islamic rites.
