Nikola Jokic took responsibility for a crucial late-game decision as the Denver Nuggets fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 in a tightly contested Game 2.
The Nuggets had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds. Jokic found himself wide open for a floater but opted to pass to Christian Braun, who was fouled and sent to the free-throw line. Braun missed one of his free throws, and Denver couldn't recover.
Jokic Takes Blame
After the game, Jokic admitted he made the wrong call.
"Yeah, I thought I had him, I kind of stepped out and jumped, and I thought I had the pass, but I definitely should have shot that floater. But, you know, we had two free throws, so it was a bad ending, but I definitely should have taken that shot."
Jokic finished the game with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists, shooting 8-for-20 from the field and 1-for-7 from beyond the arc. Despite his all-around performance, the final possession became the main talking point of the night.
Jamal Murray led Denver with 30 points, keeping the team in contention for most of the game.
