Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic is adamant that he will win by knockout should he step into the ring with Daniel Dubois again.
Hrgovic is pushing for a rematch as early as March after the pair faced off inside the ring tonight. Dubois' dominant second-round victory over Fabio Wardley failed to impress the Croatian, who even questioned whether Wardley had fully recovered from his previous bout.
"I wasn't impressed at all," Hrgovic said following the fight. "Something wasn't right, and it turned out to be too easy for Daniel. I want to fight him."
The Croatian is confident that his victory over the much younger, explosive Itauma gives him a major edge, believing he has already adapted to greater hand speed and will react in time to Dubois' power shots.
"I think after Moses, fighting Daniel will feel like slow motion," he stated.
Despite his confidence, Hrgovic acknowledges that Dubois is physically formidable, boasts an excellent jab, and remains a serious test. The Croatian's game plan revolves around neutralizing the Briton's lead hand and forcing him onto the back foot.
"I will defend against his jab," Hrgovic added. "I'll push him onto the back foot and won't let him dictate the pace. I'll control him with my jab, use head movement, and block his punches."
Hrgovic also claimed that he entered their first encounter carrying an illness and an injury, insisting his cuts were caused by head clashes with the Briton. This time around, he anticipates a completely different outcome.
"I think in the next fight, I'm just going to destroy him," he asserted.
