The decision reflects Abu Dhabi's ongoing investment in world-class sporting events that attract a global audience, bolster the tourism economy, and cement the emirate's reputation as a premier destination for international basketball.

On Friday, May 28, the season's final four contenders will face off in the semifinals, with the winners punching their tickets to the championship game. The marquee weekend wraps up on Sunday, May 30, featuring the championship game of the adidas NextGen EuroLeague junior tournament showcasing European basketball's brightest rising talent, followed by the EuroLeague Final to crown the season's champion.

His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziri, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: "The return of the Final Four in 2027 and 2029 highlights the strength of Abu Dhabi's partnership with EuroLeague Basketball and the emirate's growing stature as the home of basketball in the region. The impact of events on this scale extends far beyond the court: they drive investment, create jobs, and support local businesses, while inspiring a new generation of players and fans across our communities. It is this lasting economic and social footprint that gives moments like this their true significance."

Euroleague Basketball President Dejan Bodiroga said:

It is an immense pleasure to announce that the Final Four is returning to Abu Dhabi. I would like to thank Abu Dhabi for their continued support and trust. Together, we delivered one of the finest pinnacle events in our 26-year history, proving the massive global appeal of the EuroLeague experience. This latest milestone reaffirms our shared commitment to growing the game of basketball and delivering unforgettable moments for our fans.

Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno noted:

“Renewing our commitment to Abu Dhabi for the 2027 and 2029 editions marks another major step in our international growth strategy. Our model of bridging traditional European basketball markets with world-class metropolises offering state-of-the-art facilities, strong tourism appeal, and passionate sports communities continues to prove tremendously successful. Abu Dhabi has become a pivotal partner in this vision, and together we will continue bringing European club basketball to the broadest global audience possible."

The 2025 EuroLeague Final Four was a resounding success—tickets sold out in just a matter of hours, while millions of fans tuned in across international broadcast networks and digital platforms, breaking all-time viewership and engagement records. Istanbul's Fenerbahce Beko captured the title in front of a packed 12,000-seat crowd at Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

The event's return marks another vital milestone in the multi-year partnership between DCT Abu Dhabi and Euroleague Basketball, brokered by IMG as the league's strategic partner, further establishing the emirate as a premier global hub for elite sports. Under the agreement, the Experience Abu Dhabi brand remains the principal partner of EuroLeague competitions and title partner of the Final Four, ensuring destination branding across all season matches via arena signage, broadcast coverage, and team jerseys.

This collaboration also capitalizes on the surging interest in European club basketball across the Middle East and North Africa. During the 2025–26 season—EuroLeague's inaugural campaign featuring Dubai Basketball—the league generated a cumulative MENA television audience of 19.57 million viewers via broadcast partner Dubai TV. Fans in the region also enjoyed top-flight action during the inaugural EuroLeague Super Cup held in Abu Dhabi in September 2026.

The announcement directly supports Abu Dhabi's Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to boost visitor numbers by more than 50% between 2023 and 2030, create 178,000 new jobs, and elevate the tourism sector's contribution to GDP from roughly AED 49 billion in 2023 to AED 90 billion annually by 2030.
