Leeds United have initiated talks to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, according to Sky Sports. The former England international is a primary target for the Whites, who are looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks after the departures of Karl Darlow to Manchester City and Illan Meslier to Arsenal. Ilia Gruev's side aims to beat out competition and swiftly finalize a deal for Trafford, despite interest from Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Trafford himself only returned to Manchester City last summer, with the Etihad club reportedly paying £31 million to Burnley for his services. He arrived at the Citizens with promises of a starting role, but weeks later, Gianluigi Donnarumma was signed and immediately became the first-choice keeper, relegating Trafford to the bench. Nevertheless, James Trafford was part of the England squad at the World Cup, which concluded just this past Sunday, where the Three Lions secured a third-place finish.
