Just a less than a week after players and staff ofDelta Queen football Club on their way to a league game, another Nigerian club side have suffered same fate.
Players and officials of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Giwa Football Club were attacked by armed robbers on the night of Monday, August 3 on their way to a league game.
The Jos based team were on their way to league game against Abia Warriors where the unfortunate incident happened.
According to Sammy Adesoji, an official of the club, the robbery happened at around 10pm around Umuahia in Abia State.
This is the second NPFL club that have been attacked by robbers on their way to a league game.
Five players were badly injured when robbers attacked the team bus of in march on their way to a league game.
Giwa FC players and staff were however lucky enough as no one was injured and no life was lost during the attack.
Despite the setback, the players are ready to go ahead with their league game against Abia Warriors.
"We thank God that no life was lost in the incident and we are ready to take on Abia Warriors on Wednesday," Adesoji added.
