At a court sitting on Wednesday, August 24, the case to ascertain whether the LMC obeyed the order to reinstate Giwa FC to the NPFL was postponed.

The case was adjourned till Thursday, August 24 to allow for proper representation of counsels to the LMC and the NFF.

At a court sitting presided by Justice I.I Kunda, Habila Azard, counsel to the supporters' club chairman, had prayed the court to issue an order to suspend the league pending when the LMC obeys the order for Giwa FC to re-enter the league, with the LMC counsel, however, arguing that the prayers of the opposing counsel follow due process.

Counsel to the NPFF PBA Maduabuchi argued that the LMC are not supposed to be in court as they are the sole owners of the NPFL.

LMC's counsels also argued that they Giwa FC have no right to court proceedings and produced a document back up their argument.

According to Goal, Giwa FC in a surprising move wrote to LMC to categorically dissociate themselves from the suit filed by Mustapha Abubakar on their behalf.

In a letter sent to the LMC on Monday, August 22, Giwa FC stated that they have not instructed anybody to file a case on their behalf.

Giwa FC in May 2016 were expelled by  the LMC, organisers of the league, from the 2016/17 season due to a breach of NPFL Framework & Rules as they failed to honour three cumulative fixtures without acceptable reason.
