Stefan Bradl will miss the next round of the MotoGP season in Germany after suffering a hand injury.

Forward Racing rider Bradl sustained the blow during the previous race at the TT Circuit in Assen last month.

The German underwent surgery last Monday in the hope of recovering in time to take his place on the grid at Sachsenring on Sunday.

But he will now be replaced by Italian rider Claudio Corti, who raced for the team back in 2013.

"It's really a shame to be forced to miss my home grand prix, but doctors have advised me not to rush the recovery in order not to jeopardise the rest of the season," Bradl said.

"My hand is still sore and I will try to take full advantage of the four weeks' break before the race at Indianapolis.

"I will be at Sachsenring with the team to meet my commitments with the media, the sponsors and all my fans who have been really close to me during the week after I had surgery."
