George Russell set the pace at the start of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, topping the timesheet in the sole practice session at the Marina Bay street circuit, which hosts the final Sprint of the Formula 1 season.
During the lone hour of preparation, Russell posted a benchmark time of 1:32.274 on Pirelli soft tyres to edge out Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by 0.198 seconds. Lando Norris completed the top three, 0.273s adrift, while Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri rounded out the top five.
Max Verstappen was the quickest of the drivers who conducted their qualifying simulations on medium compound slicks rather than softs, finishing 0.732s behind Russell. Championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli took seventh, 1.251s off his teammate's pace, while Isack Hadjar, Pierre Gasly, and Liam Lawson also secured spots in the top 10.
Practice in Singapore ran without major incident, though several drivers had close brushes with the barriers. The most significant setback struck Nico Hülkenberg, who stopped out on track with a gearbox failure in his Audi with 20 minutes remaining, leaving the German with a session-low 16 laps. Williams' Carlos Sainz proved to be the busiest driver on track, completing 30 laps.
Action at the Singapore Grand Prix, Round 17 of the 2026 Formula 1 season, continues under the Marina Bay floodlights with Sprint Qualifying at 15:30 Bulgarian time.
