George Karl on Jokic and Denver: Some Teams Just Can't Support Their Legends Properly

Hall of Famer George Karl, who coached the Denver Nuggets from 2005 to 2013, has criticized the team's efforts to build a championship-caliber roster around superstar Nikola Jokic.

"Some clubs simply aren't capable of supporting their legends properly.

"Jokic was on track to become one of the top 10 greatest basketball players in history.

In Denver, that wasn't realistic," Karl posted on social media platform X.

The Nuggets won the championship in 2023, followed by two second-round playoff exits. Their most recent season concluded with a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
