Automaker introduces safety feature for babies in 2017 GMC Acadia

This feature, dubbed “Rear Seat Reminder,” alerts parents to remove their children before locking the car.

Drivers alerted with a warning tone and a reminder to “Look In Rear Seat” in the center of the Acadia’s speedometer.

This helps to prevent children from dying from heatstroke, when forgotten in hot cars.

CBSPhilly reports that, at least, 37 children have died inside hot cars, each year, since 1998.

24 children died in 2015 and so far, 12 children, this year.

This feature is only available in the redesign 2017 model.
