Homosexuality in the Premier League has become a constant subject and it is something close to Amal Fashanu’s life because his uncle Justin Fashanu who was the last Premier League to publicly declare as gay.

Eight years later in 1998, and facing charges of sexual assault in the United States, he committed suicide.

Amal has now claimed that she knows seven gay players that play in the Premier League who are too scared to come out.

“I actually know myself of seven. I will never, ever share their details,” she told BBC Radio 5 Live

“I’m not going to out them because I would never do that.

“You want to be honest, even to help them out, but you just can’t do that. The football world is extremely dark.

“I don’t even want to imagine being a footballer, what it must be like.”
