Valencia name ex-Manchester United defender as manager
Valencia have shockingly named ex Manchester United defender Gary Neville as their new manager until the end of the current season.
Former coach Nuno Espirito Santo announced his resignation from the club at his post-match press conference following Sunday night's 1-0 defeat at Sevilla.
The Mestalla outfit sit ninth in La Liga after Sunday's defeat, and their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League hang by a thread after they were beaten 2-0 by Zenit last week.
Nuno, 41, took over at Valencia in July 2014 and led the club to a fourth-place finish in La Liga last season
Assistant coach Phil Neville who is the younger brother of Gary led the team in training on Monday, November 30 while potential managers were discussed by the club.
Michael Laudrup, Alejandro Sabella and Frank Rijkaard were the early frontrunners but the club on Wednesday, just before the club's Copa del Rey game have announced Gary Neville as the new manager.
This will be Gary Neville's first team coaching job since he retired from Manchester United in 2011.
He is currently the England assistant manager and a Sky Sports pundit.
