Gabriel Bortoleto expects to remain with Audi long-term, stating he has an agreement with the Swiss-German Formula 1 team that spans several upcoming seasons.
The Brazilian joined the team in 2025 for its final season as Sauber, scoring 19 points in his debut year. In 2026, he has accounted for 10 of Audi's total 12 points. Currently, Bortoleto sits 14th in the championship, eight points behind Haas's Oliver Bearman.
The Belgian Grand Prix was undoubtedly a highlight of his season so far. He qualified ninth on a track where Audi anticipated struggles due to a power deficit compared to other leading manufacturers. After starting eighth thanks to a Lando Norris penalty, Bortoleto held his position and fended off a late attack from Arvid Lindblad to secure four points.
As Audi navigates a season of learning and adapting to life as a factory Formula 1 team, Bortoleto shared that he maintains faith in the team's long-term ambitions. Speaking to the Brazilian edition of motorsport.com, the São Paulo native confirmed his commitment to the team for the next few years.
"As far as I can say, because it's confidential information, let's just say there are no clauses. I have a long-term contract with Audi. I've said it before: I will be with Audi next year, and not just next year, but in the years to come. The intention, and I've always said it from the beginning, is that this is a long-term project. Mattia [Binotto] always talks about 2030. So let's put it that way. It's a project we truly believe in. I believed in it when I joined them, they believe in my potential, and that's what I can say. It's something long-term. I'm very excited. This year was the first step – building a new car and a new engine. Next year will be another step, and then we can start putting things into practice," Bortoleto said.
Bortoleto admitted it's not entirely clear if his teammate Nico Hülkenberg also has a contract for next year, but emphasized how much he enjoys working with the German veteran. The two have developed a strong working relationship, and over the past 18 months, Bortoleto has demonstrated he can match his more experienced teammate's pace.
"I can say that my place is secured. I won't talk about other people's contracts, but I really enjoy working with Nico. That's something I want to say and make very clear. He's someone I truly like. He's fast, experienced, and brings a lot of positive things to the team, and the future will show what's next. But I'm happy. I believe in myself and I believe in my potential," Bortoleto explained.
