The staff of the institution - members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the National Association of Academic Technologists, are demanding the prosecution and removal of the VC.

Daramola was last week quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alongside the bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun, over alleged misappropriation of funds.

The VC allegedly takes furniture  allowance every year as against the approved once-in-four-year rule. He was also alleged to have been paying himself housing allowance while residing in the University Vice Chancellor’s Quarters.

Daramola also allegedly diverted funds from various unrelated subheads to finance other projects without the appropriate approvals.

According to Premium Times, as at Monday, October 10, vehicles were barred from entering into FUTA premises by armed policemen, but the pedestrian gate was opened to visitors.

The Police Public Relations Officers in Ondo state, Mr Femi Joseph, said officers were stationed at the entrance of the institution in order to avoid breakdown of law and order.

"Our men are still there to maintain law and order and also to ensure that peace return to the school," Joseph was quoted as saying.

"It is the peace we are after that is why you saw those policemen there. But as soon as we are sure that peace has returned our men will leave the place."

It was gathered that the VC is now making efforts to resolve the matter amicably with the principal officers of the institution.
