Former Barcelona forward on Hansi Flick's gruelling training sessions: 'I felt dizzy from exhaustion'
Former Barcelona forward Pau Víctor, who currently plies his trade for Braga, has looked back on his spell with the Catalan giants. The 24-year-old revealed intriguing details about head coach Hansi Flick's uncompromising training methods. The attacker, who previously had stints at Girona and Sabadell, admitted that the German tactician pushes his players to the absolute limit in every single session.
"Flick demands a tremendous amount in training. To be honest, after more than one session, I felt completely dizzy from exhaustion," Víctor revealed in an interview on the show 'Què T'hi Jugues' on SER Catalunya.
He also recalled a telling snapshot from the club's training complex, showing him and Gavi lying flat on the grass with their legs raised just to catch their breath following a gruelling session.
The forward, who made 21 appearances and netted two goals for Barcelona's senior team during the 2024/25 season, explained the qualities the German coach values most: "Flick loves hard-working players—those who stay behind in the gym long after the session is over. He pays huge attention to those small details."
Beyond the strict discipline, Pau Víctor spoke warmly of the friendships forged at Camp Nou, emphasizing his lifelong bond with defender Gerard Martín. The Braga forward was also full of praise for Brazilian star Raphinha.
"Raphinha is simply spectacular. The way he works relentlessly in both defence and attack is remarkable, and he scores with ease on top of that. He is an incredible footballer, but as a person, he is even more impressive," the Spaniard stated.
Following a strong previous campaign in which he scored 17 goals for Braga, Pau Víctor remains a key figure for the Portuguese side, having already tallied five goals in 12 appearances this season.
