Traditionally, the winner of the FIFA World Cup receives the coveted trophy and gold medals. However, for the 2026 edition's final, FIFA is pulling an extra memento out of its hat. Thirty gold championship rings have been reserved for the winners. In the American basketball league NBA, such championship rings have been awarded for years and are a long-standing tradition. The FIFA World Cup is now getting an American touch.

During the world title presentation to the final winner on Sunday, July 19 (kick-off 9:00 PM), the team captain and national coach will receive a temporary version of the ring to showcase it to the world. Afterward, FIFA will collect them, and the gold rings will be customized to specifically suit the winner. At the center, a large globe will be prominently featured with the text 'FIFA World Cup 2026 Champions'. On one side of the globe, the World Cup trophy will be depicted, and on the other, a detail representing the winning nation.

'Will last for eternity'

Thirty of these rings are reserved for the winner of the Spain - Argentina match. An additional 1996 replicas have been set aside and produced for interested fans. The price point for these fan rings at FIFA's counter is not yet known. After the rings for the players and staff are personalized, they will all be presented at a later date during a special ceremony. 'A lifelong testament to an achievement that will last for eternity,' FIFA stated during the rings' presentation.
