Fears Eased After Initial Scare: Manchester City Star Sidelined with Knee Injury

Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo is set to miss eight weeks through a knee injury, Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca confirmed on Monday.

Semenyo sustained the injury during Saturday's 3-2 Premier League victory against Ipswich, where he was introduced as a substitute.

"Initially, we feared it could be even worse, so we were quite worried. Following Sunday's scans, we are much calmer as the damage isn't as severe as we first thought," Maresca explained.

"It could take around eight weeks. The most crucial thing for him right now is to fully recover. When he comes back, likely in December, it will be like having a 'new' player who can inject fresh energy into the side," the Manchester City manager added.

Semenyo's spell on the sidelines will restrict Maresca's attacking rotation if striker Erling Haaland picks up a knock or requires rest during a demanding schedule. The Norwegian forward was seen limping off following the Ipswich clash, with English media reporting a potential ankle concern.
