FC Porto is actively scouring the market for a left-back to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. In recent hours, Tottenham's Souza has emerged as a potential target for the national champions.
The 20-year-old defender was signed by the London club from Santos last season. According to information gathered by A BOLA, the Dragons had already identified him as a prospect before his move to England.
Our newspaper understands that Souza has been under the watchful eye of Porto's scouting department since his emergence at Vila Belmiro. This is similar to the cases of right-back JP Chermont, who has since been loaned by Peixe to Coritiba, and center-back Jair Cunha, who has reached higher echelons – after being sold to Botafogo, he is now in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
These three athletes – Souza and Chermont born in 2006, Jair in 2005 – were all identified by FC Porto's scouting department during their formative years at Santos. It's worth noting that Souza was also linked with Benfica last week. In the latter half of the 2025/26 season, he featured in four matches for the Spurs, all in the English league.
Currently, FC Porto is evaluating various options for the left defensive flank. As we reported in Monday's edition, market activity is expected to intensify only in August, so patience will be key in securing the remaining targets to complete Farioli's squad.
