Former Premier League striker Marlon King has emerged victorious from a bitter legal dispute against his half-siblings, Marvin and Leisha King, concerning their late father's will, valued at 753,000 euros.
The 46-year-old ex-footballer challenged the validity of the document, which stipulated that the entirety of Carl Vincent King's inheritance, following his passing on March 1st last year, would be divided exclusively between Marvin and Leisha. The will included an intentional exclusion clause that disinherited Marlon King from any portion of the estate.
However, a judge at the Manchester Civil Justice Centre ruled in favor of the former player, declaring the will invalid. The decision was based on the document not being properly witnessed as required by law. Consequently, the inheritance, valued at 753,000 euros according to court documents, will now be divided into three equal parts among Marlon, Marvin, and Leisha.
Following the hearing, Marvin King, 37, harshly criticized his brother for contesting the will, accusing him of not attending their father's funeral and only appearing to claim a share of the inheritance: "You're a multi-millionaire, you didn't come to his funeral, but you show up to take a third of everything. Honestly, to this day, I can't understand it," he stated.
Marlon King refuted the accusations, asserting that he had previously informed his brother that he would be unable to attend the funeral services and emphasizing that he never asked to be included in the will: "I have all the evidence that was presented in court," he declared.
It's worth noting that Marlon King's career was marred by several off-field controversies. Over the years, the former striker was involved in various legal cases, which resulted in multiple prison sentences and ultimately tarnished his sporting journey.
