On 29 September, league authorities found Manchester City guilty of making "fictitious payments," artificially inflating revenue, and disguising costs totalling more than £900 million between 2009 and 2018.

While neither Haaland nor Sky Sports explicitly mentioned the charges during an interview with the British broadcaster, the striker was asked if he had a message for the fans travelling to their upcoming match against Liverpool.

"Whatever happens in life, we always have to smile. The recent period hasn't been the easiest for us, but we have to stick together and stay positive. Let's stick together, enjoy this journey, and smile," said the star striker.

Haaland added that his personal connection to the club means he shares similar emotions with the supporters.

"I care deeply about this place, and really about the whole country in general. I care about the fans as well, because I'm a fan myself and I can relate to them," Haaland stated.

His father, Alfie, also played for City during his career. Potential sanctions regarding the charges are set to be determined at an upcoming commission hearing. The club filed an appeal against the ruling last Friday, insisting they possess "irrefutable evidence" proving their innocence.
