Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has returned to full training and is available for Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester United, manager Liam Rossinier confirmed. The 25-year-old Argentine World Cup winner was omitted from the squad for the 7-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Port Vale and last week's 3-0 Premier League defeat to second-placed Manchester City at Stamford Bridge due to disciplinary reasons. Fernandez, who had worn the captain's armband in the absence of the injured Reece James, previously stated he would assess his future after the World Cup and expressed a desire to live in Madrid, comments for which he later apologized.
“Enzo is with the group and has been training very, very well,” Rossinier told reporters. Rossinier also provided an update on defender Trevoh Chalobah, who hasn't played since Chelsea's Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain, and James, sidelined since the defeat to Newcastle United, also in March. “Trevoh trained today, but on a lighter regimen,” Rossinier said. “We will make a decision on him, but he is very, very close. Reece is a little further away.” Chelsea sits sixth with 48 points, four behind Liverpool in the Champions League spots, having won just one of their last five Premier League matches. A victory over third-placed United would help close the gap in the race for a top-five finish. “We are focused on what we can control, which is our performance,” Rossinier stated. “I expect a good performance on Saturday.”
