Player reveals how they were robbed
Newly signed Enyimbaplayer Stephen Chukwudi has revealed how they were robbed.
The Nigeria Professional Football League champions were robbed on Monday January 18 while they were on transit to Kaduna to participate in this year’s Super 4 tournament.
The Enyimba team bus was attacked by armed robbers in Kogi state and valuable items such as wristwatches, phones, laptops and cash were taken by the robbers.
Enyimba representatives confirmed the incident on their official twitter handle:
“We can confirm that our team bus was attacked by armed robbers this afternoon in Okene, Kogi State on our way to Kaduna for the #SuperFour," the statement from the club read.
"Thankfully, there were no injuries during this unfortunate incident. Players and officials were however stripped of all valuables."
Speaking about the incident, Chukwudi which he described as 'terrifying'.
“One of our officials told them we are footballers, one of them shouted at him, saying ‘Thunder fire football!", Chukwudi told Africanfootball.com.
“I have never witnessed such a thing in my life, they were like five men, all fully armed with guns.
“I saw heaven and came back to earth. It was terrifying.
“Thank God no one was hurt, but they collected our phones and money.”
