Amuneke led the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to victory in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile and has been promoted to lead the U-20 side.

Speaking to Pulse TV at the Social Media Week Lagos, Amuneke said he is waiting to meet with the Nigeria Football Federation so he can know the full plan for the Flying Eagles.

“There is no much plan about the team for now; the federation has made the announcement, when I meet with them, we will discuss well,” Amunke said.

“The main thing is to continue to encourage the players, look at the players that have gone to the world cup and see how they can continue to learn.”

A host of the players he won the World Cup with have been in hot demand since their exploits in Chile and Amunke said he has been in touch with them to know about their progress.

“I have been calling some of them to know where they are and how they are growing,” coach said.

“They have to continue to train. Most of them who have not been fortunate enough to travel now have gone back to their academy to continue to train.

The coach also said that he did not play a role in some of his players choosing the teams to sign for after winning the U-17 World Cup.

“I am not in a position to tell them anything or advise anybody on who to choose,” he said.

“The only thing I can advise them is to be very careful and know what they are doing, whatever club they choose is their personal decision with their parents and their people.”
