Celtic Nigerian defender, Efe Ambrose has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles by coach Sunday Oliseh for the two schedules friendlies later this month.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Congo at the Stade Charles Tondreau in Belgium on Thursday, October 8 and Cameroon at the 12, 000 capacity Stade Van Roy three days later.
For the friendlies, Oliseh has invited Celtic defender Efe Ambrose as a replacement for injured Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo.
The Chelsea defender who is on-loan at the Turkey club suffered a hamstring injury in the ninth minute of Kasimpasa’s clash against Rizespor on Monday, September 28 which will rule him out of the Super Eagles games.
The hamstring injury meant that the defender has been ruled out of action for three weeks after a scan was carried out on him.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)confirmed the replacement on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Sunday Oliseh has called up Efe Ambrose in place of injured Omeruo for October friendlies.,” the NFF revealed on Twitter.
This is a return for Ambrose who last played for the Super Eagles under former coach Stephen Keshi.
He bagged a red card in a league game on Saturday and but was however hailed by his coach John Kennedy.
