The football federation of Guinea have announced that the temporary ban on the country from hosting AFCON qualifiers has been lifted by CAF, and so would be eligible to host their next home games
Federation spokesman Blaise Mamadouba Camara confirmed this on Monday night
With the lift on the West African nation which has reported deaths around the 500 figure due to the outbreak of Ebola can now host next opponents Ghana in September 28th AFCON qualifier
While under the ban, Guinea played its first home game in Morocco.
CAF however, has denied this announcement official, saying that would reassess the health situation in mid-September to ascertain the true condition of things
The African body in a statement on Tuesday vehemently denied the federation’s claim
It said it can only reach a decision after its executive committee meeting on Friday and Saturday, while it is currently making plans for a WHO reassessment of the Ebola outbreak on Guinea in mid-September
CAF wrote on cafonline.com:
The statement also confirmed that the CAF EXCO meeting will hold on 19-20 of September at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa
