Mikil Obi, Nigerian football team stuck in USA
Just less than 40 hours before the
Samson Siasia and his men have been in Atlanta, Georgia where they are camping ahead of Rio 2016.
According to the schedule of the Sports Ministry, the Nigeria’s U-23 team were to travel via a chartered flight to Manaus on the night of Tuesday, August 2.
have however learnt that the team is still in the United States after the Sports Ministry’s fund transfer system failed causing delay in payment delay.
“It has been resolved,” a source told Pulse Sports.
The team is in a race against time for their first Rio 2016 game against Japan in the early hours of Friday, August 5.
The flight from Atlanta to Manaus is for eight hours and that would leave just less than 25 hours for the players to rest and prepare for the game against Japan.
Despite reports that the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung met with the team in the United States, but the media officer of the Super Eagles, Oluwatoyin Ibitoye revealed that he just spoke to captain John Mikel Obi on the phone.
