The Nigeria Dream Team IV players have received the sum of N500,000 each from the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for their victorious outing at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

The players were hosted alongside other Nigerian athletes at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The players were each given the sum of N500,000 for their exploits in Senegal.

Head coach of the team, Samson Siasia was rewarded with the sum of N500,000 for leading the team to the trophy and also qualification for the football event of the 2016 Olympic Games.

The assistant coaches of the Dream Team IV were each given the sum of N300,000 while other team officials were rewarded with N300,000 each.

Buhari during the reception urged the Dream Team and Team Nigeria in general not to fail at the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

"We must not allow a repetition of the unsavoury experience at the London 2012 Olympics where Nigerian athletes failed to make it to the podium," the President said.
