The ban lasts for 90 days but immediately the order was signed, Donald Trump received backlash from millions of people around the world. The President has maintained that the ban is to protect US citizens from terrorist attacks.

Vox has broken down the executive order and reveals what the ban is all about.

First of all, Americans are more likely to die from their clothes than die by an attack from a terrorist immigrant. Also, no American citizen has been killed by a terrorist from any of these banned countries.

Another important thing is that the ban does not allow refugees from Syria to come into the United States of America. This is a move away from America's policy of opening its arms to refugees from all over the world. There are presently 4.9 million Syrian refugees.

Vox also pointed out that Trump's ban wouldn't have prevented any of the local terrorist attacks that have happened in America over the recent years.

Remarkably, Christians from these 7 countries would be allowed to enter the United States.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" reads the plaque below the Statue of Liberty.

Trump seems to have forgotten these words as he moves America towards isolationism.
