Manager David Moyes is determined to keep Everton's European dream alive. The first Merseyside derby against Liverpool at the club's new 'Hill Dickinson' stadium is scheduled for Sunday at 4:00 PM. With six rounds remaining in the Premier League season, the Toffees are five points behind their city rivals, who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

When asked about Everton's chances of catching Liverpool, Moyes responded: "All we can do is try to catch the teams ahead of us. I think Brentford is just ahead of us at the moment."

"We need to try and overtake whoever we can. Perhaps more importantly, we need to ensure no one catches us, because if we maintain a strong position, we'll give ourselves a chance for something related to Europe," he continued.

"We might not succeed, but we have to try and fend off all the other teams too. I think that's the most important thing for me – with six games left, we have something to play for. In recent years, we've been fighting for the wrong things, but this year we're getting closer to what we hope to be involved in," he added.

"I hope we continue in the same vein and keep that dream alive. We'll see what happens."

Moyes, whose current contract expires at the end of next season, insisted: "There's no need to start talks (about a renewal) right now, because I have too many other things to think about."

When questioned about Liverpool's form during his pre-match press conference, Moyes replied: "I'm only looking at Everton. I'm not paying much attention to Liverpool and can only focus on ourselves."

Moyes confirmed that Charlie Alcaraz has returned to training, leaving Jack Grealish as the only long-term absentee. He also singled out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, noting that the headlines surrounding Jack Grealish's arrival had diverted attention from him, but he is performing exceptionally well and is brilliant.

Regarding Beto, who has scored three goals in his last four matches, Moyes expressed admiration. "I'm happy for him. He has a great attitude and works very hard. I hope Beto continues this form."

Moyes admitted that moving to a new stadium had been a challenge for the Toffees: "It's always difficult. We've had our ups and downs, but we've improved recently. I hope we can carry our better form into the last three home games of the season."
