Former Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson is currently involved in a drunken hit-and-run case from an incident on Sunday, August 15.
The Everton midfielder is said to have collided with a cyclist during the accident where he also crashed his black £125,000 (N38m) Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo into a petrol pump as he was driving over the limit.
According to , the cyclist suffered minor injuries while Gibson was arrested after police were called to the scene.
"This bloke in a nice black car came to a stop after a crash down the road," a worker at the Shell service station is quoted to say by the UK Sun.
"The police all arrived pretty quickly, someone in the garage called them. We didn't know what had happened before he stopped here."
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the midfielder has been charged with drink driving, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident.
"Darron Gibson of Altrincham has been charged with driving without due care and attention, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision," the spokesman said.
"He has been bailed to appear at Trafford Magistrates Court on Tuesday 1 September 2015.
"This is in relation to an incident on Sunday 16 August 2015 where police were called to reports that a car had collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford and failed to stop before pulling into a petrol station on nearby Dunham Road and colliding with a pump."
Gibson's car was impounded by police and is being repaired.
