UFC CEO Dana White was thoroughly impressed by Uroš Medić's performance.
On Saturday, at UFC Fight Night 282 in Belgrade, Serbia, Medić (14-3) knocked out veteran Daniel Rodriguez (20-6) just 30 seconds into the first round. This marked Medić's first main event fight in the organization, allowing him to compete in front of a home crowd. Dana White was visibly impressed by the Serbian fighter's decisive victory.
"I don't know how you could win more impressively than that," White told reporters at the post-event press conference. "The first punch practically knocked him out, because the second one hit him more in the chest, kind of a shot to the back of the head, and then a few ground strikes followed. He practically knocked him out with a single punch."
With this success, Medić now boasts a four-fight winning streak, all secured by first-round knockouts. Following his first main event, he's already setting his sights on bigger names. Medić challenged former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and current title contender Carlos Prates.
White expressed his admiration not only for Medić's performance on Saturday but also for his overall career and development in the UFC welterweight division.
"First of all, he has the most first-round knockouts in the division's history. He also holds the longest knockout streak in the division's history. I think he also has the third-longest first-round knockout streak in the sport's history. Highest knockdown percentage – he holds a bunch of records for knocking people out in the first round," White said. "If he continues to perform like this, climb the rankings, and fight for a world title... it takes a lot to become a superstar. He's definitely moving in the right direction."
