Spanish international Marc Cucurella might not be universally adored by football fans, but his recent public image has been overwhelmingly positive. From the touching story of him maintaining his distinctive curly hair for his son Mateo, who is on the autism spectrum, to his engaging sense of humor, Real Madrid's newest signing is winning over more and more supporters.
Now, further proof of the defender's humility and positive demeanor has emerged.
After triumphing with Spain at the World Cup, the Catalan player is now organizing his move to the Spanish capital, where he will don the Real Madrid jersey. Before that, however, he created an unforgettable moment for a worker in the 50,000-strong English town of Horsham, located approximately 31 miles southwest of London.
During one of his final deliveries to Cucurella's home, local postman Gary left with a memory he won't soon forget. After a brief chat, the Spaniard allowed him to hold and wear his World Cup gold medal. The postal worker later shared his experience on Horsham's social media, full of praise for the footballer.
“I had the pleasure of chatting with local World Cup winner, Marc Cucurella, while delivering his mail today. A very friendly and down-to-earth guy. He let me hold his medal. I think I’m the first Englishman to touch a World Champion’s medal in 60 years,” Gary stated.
The footballer's gesture sparked a wave of positive comments on social media. Some users even expressed regret that the Spaniard would no longer be their neighbor.
Cucurella consistently makes headlines, having recently fulfilled his promise to get a tattoo of Spain's national team coach, Luis de la Fuente.
