Crystal Palace has announced the signing of Anan Khalaili from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, weeks after the Israeli winger's anticipated transfer to Italian giants Inter Milan fell through due to medical concerns identified during his physical examinations. Khalaili successfully passed his medical with the English side and has penned a five-year deal, "subject to international clearance," the Premier League club confirmed on its official website. British media reports suggest the transfer fee is around 24.5 million euros.
The footballer's move to Crystal Palace comes a month after Inter president Giuseppe Marotta stated at a press conference that Anan Khalaili had not received medical clearance to join, despite both parties having already reached an agreement.
"Italy has very strict legislation protecting the health of footballers, with decisions made by an independent body, not the club's medical staff. We must comply with this decision," Marotta commented at the time.
Khalaili developed through the ranks of his hometown club Maccabi Haifa before transferring to Union Saint-Gilloise in 2024. He has earned 16 caps for the Israeli national team.
