Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't hold back his emotions after the 1-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup Round of 16. This defeat extinguished his dreams of bringing a World Cup title to the "Navigators." Nevertheless, he stated that he leaves with a clear conscience, having brought three trophies to his country – a European Championship and two Nations League titles.
"I leave with a clear conscience. I did everything I could. Portugal had never won a trophy before me, and now they have three. We won Euro 2016, which I believe is as significant an achievement as the World Cup. We gave our all... we played a good match, but Spain is among the best. They will reach the final or be very close to it," Ronaldo declared.
He reiterated that this would be his last World Cup appearance but added that he isn't yet contemplating the end of his career.
"This was my last World Cup, yes," he confirmed. "But as for everything else, there's time to think, to be with my family, and not to speak hastily."
