Courtois Matches Lloris in World Cup Appearances, Eyes Neuer's Record

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has ascended to second place in the all-time World Cup appearances for goalkeepers. His recent match against the USA marked his 20th World Cup game, drawing him level with French counterpart Hugo Lloris.

The record for most World Cup matches played by a goalkeeper remains with Germany's Manuel Neuer, who boasts 23 appearances in the tournament.

Should Belgium overcome Spain in the quarterfinals, Courtois would have the opportunity to play two more matches, regardless of the semi-final outcome, potentially equaling Neuer's record.

Goalkeepers with the Most World Cup Appearances:

Manuel Neuer (Germany) - 23
Hugo Lloris (France) - 20
Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) - 20
