Cotter's Midas touch remains

Scotland came from behind to extend the unbeaten start to Vern Cotter's reign as head coach to three games with a 21-19 win over Argentina.

Scotland found themselves behind with two minutes to play in Cordoba on Friday, but a late penalty from Duncan Weir earned an impressive win.

It was redemption for Weir as only five minutes earlier he had missed a seemingly easy conversion; however, he made no mistake when it mattered after Argentina had been penalised for joining a maul incorrectly.

Scotland started the game well with a converted try from Stuart Hogg in the sixth minute, yet Argentina were 8-7 ahead by the break.

The hosts extended their advantage with two penalties from Nicolas Sanchez early in the second half and, when Joaquin Tuculet scored their second try, the lead was nine points.

Rather than lie down and accept defeat, Scotland raised their game and, after Weir's second penalty, notched another try as Henry Pyrgos completed a flowing move.

With victory in sight Weir skewed his conversion attempt wide, but he was given a second chance with minutes to play and this time he made no mistake.

There was still time for Sanchez to miss a drop-goal attempt as the game's dramatic conclusion continued.
