He was said to have stormed the NFF secretariat on Friday, May 6, alongside  all his board members, to take over the leadership of the football body.

According to The Cable, the Police stopped him from entering the main building and later took him away to the Wuse zone 3 police station in the Federal Capital Territory.

A Jos High Court had ruled Giwa as President of the NFF after sacking the incumbent leader Amaju Pinnick from office.

Giwa has always claimed that the September, 2014 election which put Pinnick in office was faulty but his case has been ruled out by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
