Chiesa Hopes to Seize Opportunity Under Iraola

Forward Federico Chiesa is hoping to impress new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola and earn a regular starting spot, after making just one Premier League start in two seasons under former boss Arne Slot. The 28-year-old Italian came off the bench to score Liverpool's third goal in their 4-2 pre-season victory over Sunderland, which marked Iraola's first game in charge.

"The only conversation we've had was about pressing and tactics. So I don't know, it's hard to say. Every season is a fresh start. Maybe there have been too many of those, but I don't care – I'm trying to give my best for this new manager. Last season with Arne Slot, I was trying to do the same. Right now, I'm happy here at Liverpool. I love the club, the fans, and everything. I'm doing everything I can to get a chance here, and then we'll see. The only thing I'm thinking about is Liverpool," Federico Chiesa told Sky Sports.

In the previous two campaigns, the Italian forward played 50 matches across all competitions, scoring 5 goals for the Reds and contributing to their Premier League title win in the 2024/25 season. Last month, speculation arose that Chiesa might return to his former club, Juventus, with him even admitting in an interview with Italian newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport" that he would like to wear the Turin giants' kit again.
