Two matches now for Chelsea without a win following their 3-0 loss to Manchester City

Manchester City made a statement of intent with the 3-0 trashing of Chelsea at the Etihad on Sunday, August 16.

Manuel Pellegrini's men won with the same scoreline in the opening league game of the 2015/16 season against West Brom but it was against Chelsea that their mettle was to be tested.

They however blew that mettle to shatters as they trashed Chelsea by 3-0.

Sergio Aguero missed the first chance of the game just after 20 seconds.

David Silva threaded a pass to the Argentine striker, who sped clear of the back line he was one on one with Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begović who saved smartly.

Aguero however got his gaol in the 31st minute.

Silva’s pass into Aguero started the move,  with the striker laying the ball back to YayaToure and getting it in return almost immediately.

With four players in front of him, Aguero turned Gary Cahill, evaded the rest and finished past Begovic into the far corner.

City doubled their lead in the 42nd minute through their imperial captain, Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian reacted first to a Silva corner from the left to give City a 2-0 lead.

Fernandinho pounced on a lose ball to rifle a shot in for his first goal of he season.
