Can Iwobi help Everton get result at wolves?
Last time out in the Premier League, Everton capitulated in the most spectacular fashion. Conceding 4 goals that helped their opponents to an emphatic away win at Goodison Park was humiliating, especially for their fans. Losing in such a manner to a newly promoted team is the kind of worrying sign that the Merseyside club would have thought was behind them with a manager like Rafa Benitez at the helm.
Declining performances over the last two games would have done reasonable damage to those beliefs as the team lost two consecutive games that looked winnable on paper only two weeks ago. The team now lies in 8th position, having wiped away most of the confidence their earlier performances this season had built in supporters' minds.
The point they now are will require a lot of effort and belief from the players, transmitted from the manager of course, if they are to stand any chance of stemming that rut this weekend. That may be a tall order for this set of players, especially now that they are without team leaders like Calvert-Lewin and Doucoure.
The prospect of facing Bruno Lage's Wolves who only just started to pick up momentum after a shambolic start to their season. A team that has now lost none of their last four games, Wolves will surely test Everton's mettle when they meet. They will have to be at their best if they are to stand any chance for the points during their Monday night fixture.
With injuries still plaguing important players, a lot of the creative spark will rest on the returning Richarlison and Iwobi. Both players will need to inspire their teammates with their creative nous that the team seems to be lacking lately. Abdoulaye Doucoure and Yerry Mina are recent absences that have hit them hard.
Securing a result against Wolves in front of their fans will be a big ask of Everton. Especially with the mounting injury list. The form of the team's leaders is what will determine performance on the day as they will seek to secure a clean break from their recent poor performances.
