The police on Thursday arraigned a 56-year-old businessman, Josephat Nwobodo in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly sprinkling using <em>“Juju water”</em> in a hotel.

The police charged Nwobodo, who claimed to be a businessman, with criminal trespass, criminal intimidation and unlawful “juju”.

Nwobodo pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Prosecutor, Edwin Ochayi, told the court that a written petition from one Moses Ugwu of Kpegi Guest Inn, Kurudu, Abuja reporting the incident was received at the Karu Police Area Command, Abuja, on March 26, 2018.

Ochayi said that the complainant alleged that Nwobodo criminally entered into the above mentioned address with “Juju” water, sprayed it round the hotel and threatened to kill him.

He said that during police investigation, the defendant confessed that it was ordinary water he sprayed and that he sprayed it to to prevent dust before sweeping.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348,397 and 215 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Sani Mohammed, admitted Nwobodo to bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until March 25, for hearing.
