President set for South Africa trip

President Buhari will be travelling to South-Africa for the  Forum on China/Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), on December 4, 2015, reports say.

The  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema,Minister of Transportation, Chubuike Amaechi, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah will be accompanying Mr. President on the trip.

According to Femi Adesina, the purpose of the trip is to consolidate on the discussions between Buhari and Xi Jinping of China.

Adesina said President Buhari wanted China to “re-commence stalled rail projects under new terms that would see China providing nearly all the financing required.”

Adding that “of particular interest is the coastal railway project stretching for 1402 kilometres linking Lagos in the West with Calabar in the East; a project that is expected to be financed with 12 billion U.S Dollars Chinese loan and which will create about 200,000 jobs.”

Senator Ben Murray Bruce has criticised the President of travelling too much.

Buhari just returned from Paris, where he attended the Conference of Parties 21(COP21) on climate change along with 150 other world leaders.

Before Paris, the President was in Malta for the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Iran also played host to Mr. President during the third Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit.
