The Nigerian President, who was represented by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, made this known when his address was delivered at the burial of the late Olubadan on Friday, February 12, 2016.

“We must truly be grateful to Almighty God that a man of such substance lived among us. In his life time, he was elected five times on merit as independent candidate, no party. That is an incredible thing indeed. He also lived a life without blemish," the address began.

'He lived the life of honesty, of forthrightness all his life and that we can celebrate him 101 years after. It’s easy enough to live maybe 70 years and not make any mistakes. But if you live for 101 years and we can still speak about you in the way people speak about Oba Odulana and in the way tributes have been written about him, then truly, we ought to bless the name of God and to praise God that a man like this lived among us.

“It is possible to live a life of honesty. It is possible to live without soiling our hands because according to a poet, the path of all glory still leads to the grave. At the end of our times, we must be in a position to be celebrated the way baba is being celebrated today. I pray that the Lord Almighty will help us in this nation so that we all will be great, but more than that, we will leave a great legacy for our children,” Vice President Osinbajo read on behalf of the President who was absent at the burial.
